Righi designed and realised the complete refurbishment of the low and medium voltage cabin, the low voltage switchboard dedicated to powering the kiln in the customer’s plant. The intervention included the supply and installation of a state-of-the-art electrical system, strictly compliant with the latest CEI regulations, equipped with intelligent functionalities in line with Industry 4.0 principles.

The solution integrates advanced safety devices, energy efficiency optimisation and a remote supervision system via SCADA for real-time monitoring and diagnostics.

Challenge

The original installation had significant criticalities:

  • Short-circuit currents exceeding the breaking capacity of the existing circuit breakers;
  • Lack of adequate protection against direct and indirect contacts, with high electrical risk;
  • Very long low voltage lines with a high cross section and numerous conductors in parallel, causing voltage drops and energy losses;
  • Manual management of grid/genset switching, a source of errors and untimely intervention times;
  • Obsolete system that does not comply with current CEI regulations in terms of safety and functionality;

Results/benefits achieved by the customer

  • Improved safety with IEC 64-8 compliant and adapted protections
  • Increased reliability through redundancy in switching systems and removable components
  • Optimised energy efficiency through reduced cable lengths and improved power distribution
  • Industry 4.0 smart integration with MODBUS TCP network, PLC and SCADA supervision for advanced monitoring and diagnostics
  • Reduced downtime thanks to accurate planning and synchronised interventions with furnace rebuilds
