Revamping and integration of glass composition plant
Design and turnkey supply of an integrated automation system to improve the automatic management of casting processes.
Righi carried out a complete partial revamp of the composition plant, a key element for the automated handling of raw materials in the glass melting process. The project included the detailed design, supply, installation and commissioning of state-of-the-art switchboards, remote boxes with operator panels, upgraded safety components, as well as advanced cabling and ducting infrastructure.
In parallel, state-of-the-art PLC and SCADA software was developed. The intervention ensured smooth integration with the existing equipment, ensuring operational continuity, full compliance with current regulations and compliance with Industry 4.0 standards.
Challenge
The customer needed to:
- Modernise a critical plant for the casting process, ensuring seamless integration with existing equipment
- Implement state-of-the-art automation and supervision solutions with high safety standards and CE compliance
- Reduce plant downtime through optimised cabling and improved software, keeping the line running during changeovers
- Realise a flexible, modular and scalable system supporting centralised management and control from remote locations

- Optimisation of fusion process management through integrated automation and a SCADA supervision system based on Ignition software, with real-time monitoring, alarm notifications and advanced reporting
- Increased operational safety by replacing and upgrading safety components, including interlocked key and microswitch systems
